Monday November 23, 2009 Matthew Chapter 1

It seems like a good place to start... Matthew the first book of the New Testament.  So I guess that genealogy is a good place for Matthew to start.  I love in genealogy when they make a reference to who someone is to help me remember.  In this tibit of genealogy I find it very interesting how not very many mothers are listed.  Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, Bathsheba although her name was not listed she is refered to as Uriah's wife.  Then how Mary was listed in verse 16 and Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called the Christ.  I think it is very interesting how just some of the mom's are listed.  Makes me wonder why them?  Would I be listed in someone genoalogy?

I always find it so refreashing how "righteous" Josesph must have been to continue is engagement with Mary and not have "union" with her until after Jesus was born.  I know it takes a special man to take in a child that is not his own and raise it.  Vince (my husband) is no Joseph but he took in Keith (my oldest) so first hand I know how are this is.

So excited to start this journey!!

  1. This is a great idea. Let's see how I do following this blog. (I am NOT good at technology....right now I"m trying to figure out why, when I signed up to be a follower, my picture suddenly appeared in two different places! I'll have to wait for Don to get home to help me figure out how to edit it down to just one!!!)

I'll start my reading tonight. Looking forward to continuing to study, learn, grow, and have some fun together!
