As I look back on the 28 days and the 28 chapters of Matthew I fully understand why I am doing this.
1. It holds me accountable (trust me I need that!)
2. It is nice to have others to call on when we don't understand something (Thanks to all for your imput and research)
3. Comfort of our own home convienience of when it works for us.
I could go on and on but I think it is AWESOME that we can gather together and study God's word!!
I thought we would study Luke Chapter 1 tomarrow 12/22/09, Luke Chapter 2 12/23/09 revisit Matthew Chapter 1 and 2 on Christmas eve. Then starting 12/26/09 we will start in Acts Chapter 1.
Hope you all can make it!! lol
Chapter 28:
1 I can understand the 2 Marys wanting to go and mourn at the tomb. Even tho I know that they are not there sometimes I find comfort in going to the cememtary. The last place we know where they were on this earth.
2-4 Imagine really seeing an angel...... I think I would be like a "dead person" also... I am thinking it must have been hard to imagine white clothes in those days??
5-7 imagine seeing first hand that He has risen....WOW!!! and told by and angel He is waiting for you in Galilee.
8 So the women hurried.... HELLO I would have ran the whole way!!
9 "Greetings" Jesus said to them....I think I would do the same thing they did. Bow down grab His feet and worship Him!!
10 "Don't be arraid, Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee: there they will see me" The 2 Marys must have been so excited to know that they would see Him 1 more time....

Mona....I agree that doing a study like this is great. It lets the early morning and late at night people participate when it works into their schedule. A cup of coffee or a diet pepsi (that's my drink of choice) and pj's make it comfy. THANKS for being willing to take the lead in this study. Looking forward to the days and weeks ahead.
ReplyDeleteLOVE THIS CHAPTER :) What awesome news that Christ had risen!
verse 2 After Jim's description of angels on Sunday, I had a whole new image as I read this verse. Can you see these powerful angels facing down the guards!! No wonder they "shook with fear and fell into a dead faint". I also love that once again the angels told the woman not to fear and then proceeded to let them know what had taken place and what they should do next. I like that they didn't even think twice about what to do-----despite feeling fear they ran with joy to find the disciples. How awesome is it that as they did what they were told they met Jesus (who calmed their fears)and worshiped Him.
DON'T BE AFRAID: both times that the women found themselves in circumstances that had to be a bit frightening and confusing they were given those comforting words "Don't be afraid". I have to admit that one of the "issues" that I still have to work on is letting fear knock on my door and opening it when I hear the knock. I'm so thankful that the door continues to be opened to smaller and smaller degrees, but I want the day to come when I will ignore fear when it comes knocking!! I have a long way to go, but I look back at where I was even a few years ago and I see how God has led me to this better place....
verses 11-15 more plotting and lying....a theme among the religious leaders
verse 20: "....and be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age". These are words we need to take to heart. What an awesome way to end a chapter!!!
Dorothy oh how I love your comments!! You are a rockstar so glad you are on this journey with us!!
