Wednesday 12/30/09 Acts Chapter 4

Realazation.... Today and one more day of 2009.... Where did the time go??  The years are flying by must be a sign of my age??  I am going to be starting a new lifestyle this next year.  Hopefully new and improved will stay for awhile.  New year new life!!  I know New Years resolutions are not always successful but I have to try at least start!!

Acts Chapter 4:

4 I love in this verse how it states many who heard the message believed.   To me this tells me that we have to tell and show many the message of Jesus although not all but many will believe.  Don't give up keep talking of His love!!

8 I love how it was stated that Peter was filled with the Holy Spirit.   I pray right now that everytime I open my mouth I be filled with the Holy Spirit!!

19  "Judge for yourself wheher it is right in God's sight to  obey you rather than God".  For we can not help speaking about what we have seen and heard.  I pray this for all of those reading this and in my life.  We can not hide what God has done for us.  We need to tell all of His great love and grace!!

31 that would be AWESOME!!

32 this would be a beautiful sight!!

33 I don't know about you but I would love much Grace upon me!! Let's start testifing!!

34-36 this is a great testament to those for tithing.  big difference between 10% and giving everything...

Tuesday 12/29/09 Acts Chapter 3

Sorry I missed a day.. :(  Sometimes life get the best of us and we have to go with the flow... I am excited to see what happens next in ....
Acts Chapter 3:

1 right off the bat my interest is peaked with going to the temple at the "time of prayer" imagine going to the temple/church everyday at the same time to gather and pray.... I am liking this idea!!

6-10 wow what a picture this puts in my heart... I think sometimes we think helping someone with gold/silver is what they need.  Instead they need to be "healed" in th ename of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.   Maybe instead of reading someones sign "will work for food" we could look into their heart and read what their sign really says??  I made some bad choices can anyone forgive me?, I am broken and don't know how to fix it,  I am unloved can you help me love again?

11-16 Imagine how those there must have felt when these 2 men explained what they had done...Who they had handed over and disowned.......

19 "Repent , then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, and time of refreshing may come from the Lord"  I don't know about you but this sounds preatty amazing.  I know a few who need to hear this!!

26  "When God raised up his servant, he sent him first to you to bless you by turning  each of you from your wicked ways".  My questin are which way are you turning???

"Son"day 12/27/09 Acts Chapter 2

Well this morning is full of questions for me.  I hope that some of you can give me some insight!!  Who wrote the book of Acts?  It is right after the gospels??  Please someone fill me in!

Chapter 2:

1 What is Pentecost??

6 I find this interesting that they were speaking to all the people in their own language...

11..... we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!

18Even on my servents, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days and they will prophesy.   (Are you a servent??)

17-21 prophecy fullfilled from Joel 2:28-32

25-28 prophecy fullfilled from Psalm 16:8-11

34,35 prophecy frullfilled for  Psalm 110:1

38 Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sinss. And you will recieve the gift of the Holy Spirit.

44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. (Wow what a thought!)

Saturday 12/26/09 Acts Chapter 1

Christmas was a beautiful day at our house... Nothing like I expected. God is so good!!  We had biscuits and gravy for breakfast and played rockband and ping pong and ate way to much... We are so blessed!!

Today we start Acts:

Chapter 1

4 WAIT for the gift my Father promised.  I think so many times we has humans can not, will not or simple don't WAIT ON GOD!!

7,8 what a POWERFULL thought!!  it is not about the timing but the power of the spirit.

14 "They all joined together constantly in prayer"  amazing that they couldn't stay awake when Jesus needed them to pray??  What about me??  I find it hard to get together with friends more less when we do get together we don't do much praying.

18 GROSS!!

26 HELP!! WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO "CAST LOTS"???

Christmas Eve 2009 Matthew Chapter 1 & 2

Well it is Christmas Eve.  My house is a mess, I still need to finish some baking, wrapping and make the clam chowder for open house tonight.  Alot different than that blessed night oh so many years ago.
I watched the movie The Navitiy Story.  What a great movie if you ever get a chance to watch it please do it really brings the story of our Saviors birth to life in a special way.

Matthew Chapter 1 & 2:

1-17 It is so important to have genealogy to "prove" who Jesus is and where He came from.  I love how some were listed and wonder if someone was to do a  genealogy report on my family what it would look like??

18-25 I am still so impressed with Joseph. I think alot of times he gets over looked in this story but really he is such a key part.  What a faith full man to go thru the shame he must have went thru and talk about control.  To have a women and not "be with her"  AMAZING !!

Chapter 2:

6 Jesus is refered to as a shepherd in prophecy....  With what I learned about the shepherds and that they were the first to hear of Christ I find it very interesting????

7,8 King Herod tries to trick the Magi.... Good thing they were "Wise Men"!

12 The Magi were warned in a dream... (again jealousy of dreams and vision from God!)

there is alot of prophecy fullfilled in this chapter. verse 6 Micah 5:2, verse15 Hosea 11:1, verse 18 Jer. 31:15,

Hope you all have a wonderful day celebrating Jesus' birth... Happy Birthday Jesus!!

Wednesday 12/23/09 Luke Chapter 2

Well here it is 2 days before Christmas Eve.  That is really the count down for me.  I love our open house, candle light service and the night.  Our youth pastor brought up a few things that were interesting to me about the Christmas Season.  1. the song Silent Night it is alittle comical but have you ever heard a women give birth?? it is so not silent.  2. He shared a story about shephards that I would like to share before we dive it.
Shepherds were the first to hear of Jesus birth?? Why shepherds?? In this day and age we don't get it. So we need to think outside of ourselves.
Shepherding was a way of life for biblical people, Abraham the father of the jews was a shepherd, Moses, and David the king who established Israels national identitiy.
As the land was settled the shepherds primarily kept their flocks on the fringe of the wilderness. Shepherding was not an easy way of life.  Imagine the elements wind, sun, cold, hot they were always with their sheep.  Not to mention lions and tigers and bears... (Oh my)  At night the shepherd would either put them in a pin (if available) or would make an enclosure and he would lay by the gate to keep sheep in and others out. Now if that is not enough to get you interested listen to this:
Some scholars paoint out theat the place the shephers would have watched the sheep would lay between Bethlehem and Jerusalem 5.5 miles to the north.  This location would coincide with the station where shepherds watched the flocks destined for sacrifices at the temple. This would coincide with the late fall or even early winter date for the birth.  How interesting that this group of shepherds were the first to hear of the Saviors birth.  That the sheep they were watching were destined to be a sacrifice in the Temple.  Have you ever heard the saying that Christ was the sacrificial lamb?  How cool!!
Also in sheep herding families the night shift was left to the youngest.  Young men and women in their teens where the first to see and hear of Christ....
Shephers were the working class and due to their jobs were considered unclean.
Later on Jesus chose the metaphor of the shepherd to discribe himself

Now that we have the background lets get with Luke Chapter 2:
10 Of course the first thing the angel of the Lord would say is "DO NOT BE AFRAID" are you kidding me! After what we have learned if I was a shepherd I would be scared to death not to mention I would feel the need to protect my families sheep!!
14 like one angel would not be enough to scare you their would be a "heavenly host"  and singing.  As a teenager I can only imagine the thoughts.  What if you wake up my dad? The sheep are going to get out. Dude I am trying to get some sleep here... (Gotta love a teenager!)

19  Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart...

36  Anna was a prophetess was very old widowed from a young age She never left the temple but worshiped night and day, fasting and praying.  When Mary and Joseph were in the temple she (Anna) came up to the  gave thanks to God and spoke about the child.

46 How interesting that when He stayed behind they found Him on the 3rd day!!

Tuesday 12/22/09 Luke Chapter 1

Well I am starting to get excited for Christmas. The celebration of the birth of Jesus our Savior and Friend.  With this comes giving of our time, gifts and food.  Yesterday I was brave and went to Wal-Mart boy was I nervous.  I had such a great experience in and out in less than 1 hour, found exactly what I wanted and it was on sale and had enough money to pay cash for everything!!  God is sooo good!  Today alittle bit of shopping for food then some time in the kitchen starting to prepare those things that bring back the memories of Christmas Past.  This is my favorite part of the holidays when I can stay home and prepare for the good times.
We at our house always have an open house on Christmas Eve and Christmas.  Christmas Eve is full of friends stopping by and I make clam chowder and torteille soup.  Christmas day is full of pj's biscuits and gravy and ham dinner.  Any and all are well for any or all!!  We would love to see you!!

Luke Chapter 1:
This is a long chapter at first glance.....
6 I would love to be know as upright in the sight of God.   What does that mean to you?

13 Do not be afraid the angel said to Zechariah...

19-20 I imagine how I would respond to an angel...  I know I wouldn't be able to speak for awhile either because I would question what was happening...

25 In these days he has shown his favor and taken away my disgrace among the people......wow!!

28 I find it interesting that when the angel appeared to Mary he didn't say do not be afraid, fear not nothing about fear.   He said " Greetings you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you" Then he said Do not be afraid, Mary, you have found favor with God.

34 How will this be?? Since I am still a virgin?

37 Nothing is impossible with God!!  I think one of the best lines in the bible!!

46-56  Mary's song!

67-79 Zechariahs Song!

My question is has God put a song in your heart?? To me it would be something He has done miraclesously in your life.  I have several things I could sing about!

Monday 12/21/09 Matthew Chapter 28

As I look back on the 28 days and the 28 chapters of Matthew I fully understand why I am doing this.
1. It holds me accountable (trust me I need that!)
2. It is nice to have others to call on when we don't understand something (Thanks to all for your imput and research)
3. Comfort of our own home convienience of when it works for us.
I could go on and on but I think it is AWESOME that we can gather together and study God's word!!

I thought we would study Luke Chapter 1 tomarrow 12/22/09, Luke Chapter 2 12/23/09 revisit Matthew Chapter 1 and 2 on Christmas eve.  Then starting 12/26/09 we will start in Acts Chapter 1.
Hope you all can make it!! lol

Chapter 28:
1 I can understand the 2 Marys wanting to go and mourn at the tomb.  Even tho I know that they are not there sometimes I find comfort in going to the cememtary.  The last place we know where they were on this earth.

2-4  Imagine really seeing an angel......  I think I would be like a "dead person" also...  I am thinking it must have been hard to imagine white clothes in those days??

5-7 imagine seeing first hand that He has risen....WOW!!!  and told by and angel He is waiting for you in Galilee.

8 So the women hurried.... HELLO I would have ran the whole way!!

9 "Greetings" Jesus said to them....I think I would do the same thing they did.  Bow down grab His feet and worship Him!!

10 "Don't be arraid, Go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee: there they will see me"  The 2 Marys must have been so excited to know that they would see Him 1 more time....

"Son"day 12/20/09 Matthew Chapter 27

As Christmas is fast approaching if I am ready or not I am finding myself doing alot of reflecting on times gone past.... I am so thankful for the family and friend that I have had that are no longer with me physically.  I do find that I am with them more now than when they were alive because I think of them sooo often.  I truly am blessed to have those memories.  Some of the memories are hard to remember... Some make me feel very lonely... Some make me hope that my children (I can't even go there!) For the most part I find myself smelling something or tasting something and the memories come rushing back.  Very real I close my eyes and it is like I am back to the place of the smells and tastes....Does anyone else have these???

Chapter 27:

1-7 Taking your own life... The guilt he must have felt... (10 more prophecy fullfilled...Zech 11:12,13 & Jer 19:1-13,32:6-9

I usually read and something will catch my eye and stop and post....today I couldn't stop reading I have copied and pasted from bible gateway.....
POWERFULL!!
11Meanwhile Jesus stood before the governor, and the governor asked him, "Are you the king of the Jews?"
"Yes, it is as you say," Jesus replied.
12When he was accused by the chief priests and the elders, he gave no answer. 13Then Pilate asked him, "Don't you hear the testimony they are bringing against you?" 14But Jesus made no reply, not even to a single charge—to the great amazement of the governor.
15Now it was the governor's custom at the Feast to release a prisoner chosen by the crowd. 16At that time they had a notorious prisoner, called Barabbas. 17So when the crowd had gathered, Pilate asked them, "Which one do you want me to release to you: Barabbas, or Jesus who is called Christ?" 18For he knew it was out of envy that they had handed Jesus over to him.
19While Pilate was sitting on the judge's seat, his wife sent him this message: "Don't have anything to do with that innocent man, for I have suffered a great deal today in a dream because of him."
20But the chief priests and the elders persuaded the crowd to ask for Barabbas and to have Jesus executed.
21"Which of the two do you want me to release to you?" asked the governor.
"Barabbas," they answered. 22"What shall I do, then, with Jesus who is called Christ?" Pilate asked.
They all answered, "Crucify him!" 23"Why? What crime has he committed?" asked Pilate. But they shouted all the louder, "Crucify him!" 24When Pilate saw that he was getting nowhere, but that instead an uproar was starting, he took water and washed his hands in front of the crowd. "I am innocent of this man's blood," he said. "It is your responsibility!" 25All the people answered, "Let his blood be on us and on our children!"
26Then he released Barabbas to them. But he had Jesus flogged, and handed him over to be crucifiedhe Soldiers Mock Jesus

27Then the governor's soldiers took Jesus into the Praetorium and gathered the whole company of soldiers around him. 28They stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him, 29and then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on his head. They put a staff in his right hand and knelt in front of him and mocked him. "Hail, king of the Jews!" they said. 30They spit on him, and took the staff and struck him on the head again and again. 31After they had mocked him, they took off the robe and put his own clothes on him. Then they led him away to crucify him.

The Crucifixion
32As they were going out, they met a man from Cyrene, named Simon, and they forced him to carry the cross. 33They came to a place called Golgotha (which means The Place of the Skull). 34There they offered Jesus wine to drink, mixed with gall; but after tasting it, he refused to drink it. 35When they had crucified him, they divided up his clothes by casting lots.[b] 36And sitting down, they kept watch over him there. 37Above his head they placed the written charge against him: THIS IS JESUS, THE KING OF THE JEWS. 38Two robbers were crucified with him, one on his right and one on his left. 39Those who passed by hurled insults at him, shaking their heads 40and saying, "You who are going to destroy the temple and build it in three days, save yourself! Come down from the cross, if you are the Son of God!"
41In the same way the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the elders mocked him. 42"He saved others," they said, "but he can't save himself! He's the King of Israel! Let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe in him. 43He trusts in God. Let God rescue him now if he wants him, for he said, 'I am the Son of God.' " 44In the same way the robbers who were crucified with him also heaped insults on him.

The Death of Jesus
45From the sixth hour until the ninth hour darkness came over all the land. 46About the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice, "Eloi, Eloi,[c] lama sabachthani?"—which means, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?"[d]
47When some of those standing there heard this, they said, "He's calling Elijah."
48Immediately one of them ran and got a sponge. He filled it with wine vinegar, put it on a stick, and offered it to Jesus to drink. 49The rest said, "Now leave him alone. Let's see if Elijah comes to save him."
50And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit.
51At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook and the rocks split. 52The tombs broke open and the bodies of many holy people who had died were raised to life. 53They came out of the tombs, and after Jesus' resurrection they went into the holy city and appeared to many people.
54When the centurion and those with him who were guarding Jesus saw the earthquake and all that had happened, they were terrified, and exclaimed, "Surely he was the Son[e] of God!"
55Many women were there, watching from a distance. They had followed Jesus from Galilee to care for his needs. 56Among them were Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James and Joses, and the mother of Zebedee's sons.
The Burial of Jesus
57As evening approached, there came a rich man from Arimathea, named Joseph, who had himself become a disciple of Jesus. 58Going to Pilate, he asked for Jesus' body, and Pilate ordered that it be given to him. 59Joseph took the body, wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, 60and placed it in his own new tomb that he had cut out of the rock. He rolled a big stone in front of the entrance to the tomb and went away. 61Mary Magdalene and the other Mary were sitting there opposite the tomb.
The Guard at the Tomb
62The next day, the one after Preparation Day, the chief priests and the Pharisees went to Pilate. 63"Sir," they said, "we remember that while he was still alive that deceiver said, 'After three days I will rise again.' 64So give the order for the tomb to be made secure until the third day. Otherwise, his disciples may come and steal the body and tell the people that he has been raised from the dead. This last deception will be worse than the first."
65"Take a guard," Pilate answered. "Go, make the tomb as secure as you know how." 66So they went and made the tomb secure by putting a seal on the stone and posting the guard.

Saturday 12/19/09 Matthew Chapter 26

Well here I am first day of 16 off!!  8:00am sitting in my PJ's drinking my coffee and getting my mind ready to hear from God!!  What a great way to start the day!!

Chapter 26:

2 I can't imagine how the disciples must have felt when they heard this news...

13 What have you done for Jesus that will be told in your memory??

14-16 What is your price for selling out Jesus??  Your reputation, gossip, busyness, not giving of money/time? I know that I have a few that I have done...... So sorry for these things!!

25 How would you feel if Jesus confirmed your "bad behavior"?  I know I get  a gut wrenching feeling when I know I have done wrong in His eyes....

31 Prophecy fullfilled from Zech 13:7

36-45 Today when I read this story it brought new "light" to me...  How many times for me I feel the need to pray and get distracted or "fall asleep" while praying... For many years I could not understand how "they" could fall asleep... Now I get it.  I am so soon to throw the first stone. Makes me feel bad for all those times.....So many time I have asked God to take my cup from me when I pray.  I need to trust His plan and work with God instead of against...

56 How many times I have deserted Him and fled...

62-63 so many times when being accused for something I try and justify instead Jesus remained silent...

Friday 12/18/09 Matthew Chapter 25

This morning I am so excited!!  I only have a half day of work which I don't have to teach any classes and I am off for 16 days!!  I am really looking forward to spending some days in my PJ's, baking some treats and spending time with family and friends!!

Chapter 25:

1-13 Always be ready and be prepared!!  Let me ask you one question...  Do you have enough oil?

13"So stay alert. You have no idea when he might arrive.  (The Message)

14-30  I have to say I love this parable!!  It is a good reminder to all of us to use our talents (gifts) or we will be help accountable!!  I even try and look for new talents within myself so I won't get in trouble in the end.  I don't want to upset the "Big Guy"

31-46  Simple question.... Are you going to be classified as a sheep or a goat....  He sees EVERYTHING!!

Thursday 12/17/09 Matthew Chapter 24

I am really getting excited about having 2 weeks off from work, enjoying being home with my family and getting some rest.

Chapter 24:

I must confess one of my least things to think about is "end times" or when Jesus returns.  I think too many focus on when it will be and what/how it will happen.  To me I try and live my life the best way I have learned how and hope for the best.  It will happen when it happens! I don't want to spend my time trying to figure out when it will happen and miss my life!!

Although it says it verse 42 " Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. 44 So you als must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.

Does anything jump off the pages to anyone else??  Maybe you enjoy learning about this and have some insight... Help a sister out!!

Wednesday 12/16/09 Matthew Chapter 23

WOE, WOE, WOE, WOE, WOE, WOE, WOE!!!

I know that Jesus was warning them about their hearts.  Was a good time to look inside my own heart and see where I needed work.  I think that this chapter is what scares people out of teaching in Sunday School and helping serve at church.??

1-4 right off the bat it is do as I say not as I do!!  This is so hard!!

5-7  why do you do what you do when it comes to your faith??

11 where are we falling on the slide?? Humble or Great??

16-22 are you swearing??

23-24 are you giving of you TIME and money??

25-26  not only is your cup 1/2 full/ 1/2 empty you have to clean the inside first!!

27-28  so don't worry about what you wear to church make sure your heart is in the right place!!

34 don't miss out on those people that God has sent to try and help you!!

BLESSED IS HE WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD!!

Tuesday 12/15/09 Mathhew Chapter 22

Reading this chapter reminds me so much of us trying to figure out God!! Let's test Him, let's see if we can trick Him and last is He real.  We come by it naturally and will continue to try and figure it out.  We need to "Let go and let God" (my mom used to say this).   We always try and figure out who what when where and why alittle too much!

Chapter 22:

1-14  To me this parable is easy are you coming to the wedding?  Then it makes me wonder am I properly dressed?  (Women are used to this thought!)

15-22  This is why they probably put "In God We Trust" on our money.  Although makes me think!!

23-33  HELP    I need help understanding this one!!  Is it that we are too caught up on relationships??  Or that we want to hold onto this world??

34-40  heart mind soul... easier said than done!  who is my neighbor??  I know not just those I live next to.

41-46  I love how He asks them a question...

Monday 12/14/09 Matthew Chapter 21

Hopefully you noticed I took the day off yesterday...  I took some much needed Mona time (and my hubby was scanning and defraging our computer)  So lets hit the floor running

Chapter 21:

1-11 Interesting reading about Palm Sunday during the "Chirstmas Time".
5 prophecy was fullfilled from Zech 9:9 and Psalm 118:26

12-17  Churches need to relook at this story and then relook at their Childrens Ministry.  We need to get the kids excited about Jesus again in our churches.  (Thanks Kathy)

21  "If you have faith and no doubt..........."  Enough said!

23-27  I love how Jesus confuses them with one question...

28-32  This would be another great parable for teaching youth and children.

42  Psalm 118:22,23

45-46  Imagine the looks on their faces when they realize that the parable is about them.

My challange to you as well as myself.... Remember truly what you are celebrating this season....Jesus birth.  We know the story and the ending.  This is a Season like no other!!

Saturday 12/12/09 Matthew Chapter 20

Well today I am making a decision to try and get it together for Christmas.  Went to my work Christmas party last night and had a blast.   I have plugged in the lights on the Christmas tree.  Opened a few Christmas cards.  Going to a Christmas party at church today to celebrate our "Angel Tree" kids that the youth have wrapped presents for.  Took a turkey out to cook tomarrow.  Will hopefully remember to turn on the Christmas lights outside tonight.
Going to try and be thankful for what I have not wishfull for what I have not.....

Chapter 20:

1-16  Again I have found another parable that I don't think I have heard before!!  We really need to think of a way to use these different ones in Childrens and Youth ministry so we are not reteaching the same parable or scripture over and over again.  ok  ok  enough of my high horse.  When it is put this way it seems crazy to me!!  Although I really get it..

17-19  I love how the response of the disciples is not listed here....  I can only imagine what they were thinking!!

20-28  I think it is very interesting that "mommy" had to ask....  Are you willing to be last??

32 another classic line!!  "WHAT DO YOU WANT ME TO DO FOR YOU?"

FRIDAY!! 12/11/09 Matthew Chapter 19

As Christmas time is approaching I am really trying to stay focused on WHY I celebrate Christmas instead of the commercialism.  I am usually a bah humbug at christmas and just go through the motions for my family but inside I am so sad.  I know in my head why I celebrate but really want to feel it in my heart this year.  I know I am not the only one who feels like this so if you have any tips on how to be "adult" and celebrate like a "child" please let me know.

Chapter 19:

1-3 people come to Jesus to be healed, while others come to test Him.  My question is how do we draw people to Christ who don't feel like they need to be healed or that don't want to test Him?   We have a ton of people in our lives that don't know Jesus and are missing out on what He has to offer.  ETERNITY, LOVE, GUIDANCE, HOPE, GRACE to name a few.

9  This is very hard for me to hear...  I am divorced and hope I have been forgiven of this one.

12 HELP!!  WHAT IS AN EUNUCHS???

24  I am glad that I would not classify myself as being "rich".  Although after doing mission work in Mexico and Jamaica I know that in comparison I am very rich so again alittle worried!

Thursday 12/10/09 Matthew Chapter 18

Let's just jump right in!!

Chapter 18:

1-4 what does it look like to humble yourself like a child??  Or how about welcoming others like a child.  When was the last time you were so excited to see someone that you ran to them??

5-6 This makes me very nervous since I work with the youth at our church.  I know for myself I really need to study Gods Word so I dont' teach them incorrectly or out of text.  Not to mention our actions and how we deal with life.  Maybe this is why it is so hard to get volunteers in childrens and youth ministry??

7-10 What body parts are making you sin??  Eyes, what are you looking at our lusting for?  Looking or comparing ourselves to others?  Hands what are you holding onto too tight?? Money, work,??  Legs... Are you running from something that you need to deal with??  Feet , are you walking away from someone in need?  What are some other ideas??

15-20  This can be hard to confront someone.  Sometimes it is easier to just pretend like it doesn't matter.  Or you don't care.  I think this is where break down in relationships happen.

21-35  Again it is easier to walk than to forgive and deal.  Especially if you have anger or issues with holding a grudge...

This was a heavy chapter for me and made me do a lot of looking to my own heart.  Not sure how I am measuring up.

Wednesday 12/9/09 Matthew Chapter 17

Chapter 17:

1-13  WOW!! What a picture this paints in my imagination..   The beauty, spendor and peace.  I can't even explain what chills I got reading this. I can't even begin to think what Peter, James and John must have felt when they witnessed this.  And then to be sworn to keeping it seceret until after His death.  Talk about turst, faith and obediance...

14-23  All I can say is I wish I had "true faith" of a mustard seed.  Question if I had "true faith" what would I use it on??

24-27  this would be a good story for childrens ministry.  I could just see the art work.  How interesting is this??

Tuesday 12/8/09 Matthew Chapter 16

Wow it has been a long week and it is only Tuesday.  Sure could use alittle bit of light from the word this morning.  We have had issues in our family that I never thought would occur, Doctor visits and not hearing exactly what we wanted to hear.  I find myself reaching for the hem of Jesus' robe but really want to crawl up into His arms and stay there.  My heart is heavy and my mind is racing.

Chapter 16:
4 I need help again!!  What is the sign of Jonah??  (HELP)

8-12 I am so much like the disciples... I still don't get it today...

18 I would love to be called Peter (the rock) although after reading the whole chapter I am not sure He means rock as a good thing.  Maybe hard headed>>>

20 this verse really bothers me....  Are we still living by this??  Are we believing not to tell anyone??

23 Peter goes from being the rock to satan in 5 verses???

from The Message:
24-26Then Jesus went to work on his disciples. "Anyone who intends to come with me has to let me lead. You're not in the driver's seat; I am. Don't run from suffering; embrace it. Follow me and I'll show you how. Self-help is no help at all. Self-sacrifice is the way, my way, to finding yourself, your true self. What kind of deal is it to get everything you want but lose yourself? What could you ever trade your soul for?

Monday 12/7/09 Matthew Chapter 15

Sorry for the delay in posting today... Much drama at my house this morning. Please pray for my family during this time.

Chapter 15

4. I love how Jesus refered to the laws in the old testament in answering them.  Exodus 20:12,Deut. 5:16, Exodus 21:17,Lev. 20:9
6 are there any traditions in my life that nullifing the word of God?
8 More prophecy fullfilled.  Isaiah 29:13
15 I really enjoyed His explanation to His disciples.  18 "But the things that come out of the mouth come from the heard and these make a man unclean." (Don't get me wrong,,, WASH YOUR HANDS!!) Our words are by far more harming than anything.

29-39 Jesus feed a different crowd.
32 "I have compassion for these people; they have already been with me 3 days and have nothing to eat.  I do not want to send them away hungry or they may collapse on the way."
This is my prayer for all of you is that Jesus will have compassion for you and He doesn't want to send you away hungry.

"Son"day 12/06/09 Matthew Chapter 14

The weeks are flying by!!  The Christmas Season is definately here.  I am so struggling with getting in the spirit of things.  This is a very hard time for me usually.  I love to celebrate the birth of Christ although I think the commercial things get so out of hand.  Plus as I unpack all of my decorations I am reminded of Christmas Past.  This is especially hard for me with so many people that were so dear to me being gone:(  So I guess I am going through the motions with my holiday spirit.  I need to get to the More Than The Motions with that too...

Chapter 14

1-14 are you kidding me??  Requesting that your daughter bring you someones head on a platter.  I am sure she will need some counseling when she is older.!!  This is some crazy stuff I am learning!!

13-21  I find it interesting in Matthew how there is no mention of where the fishes and loaves came about... Although the mention of how much leftovers their was??

22-36  Is really one of my favorite stories in the bible it is so me!!  First off I am shocked that He walked on water so He must be the Son of God.  Then I want to believe so bad and test the waters (no pun intended)  That I ask Jesus to prove it to me.  Like what I have witnessed is not enough...  Then once I am there I loose sight of who I am with and start to sink and Jesus has to save me again.  Then when that journey is over people are still so consumed with themselves they bring their sick to be healed.  Sound simular to our lives.  We tell of how Jesus has saved us and all the things He has healed us from, and all we do is push for more miracles instead of praising all the time.  Everyone wants a piece of the actions when it is good.

Saturday 12/5/09 Matthew Chapter 13

Today was a good day for learning for me.  I have not heard of a few of these parables.  I again must say thanks to all for following this study and keeping me going.  It is amazing to me the things that God is teaching me during this time.

Chapter 13

1-9  I love this story about the seeds and the sower!!  To me I take it very personally.  I like to look at myself as the sower.  I have to not be careful where I cast me seeds and only do it in good soil for sometimes I don't know what is good soil.  I have to cast my seeds everywhere and let God work where they land.  I think we as Christians hold our seed to tightly and only let them fall at church or bible study.  We have to let them "fall/slip" out of our grasp no matter where we are.

14 I love that Jesus quoted prophets.  (you know me I am a sucker for the prophets being fulfilled!)

15-17  Is a good reminder of how we need to check our hearts, ears and eyes.  How ya doing??

18-23  Just a reminder that you don't know where your seeds have fallen.

24-30 I honestly don't think I have ever heard this parable.  It has such a great meaning to me.  To me it is on judging others especially in the church.  I think we judge other brothers and sister (or think they are weeds)  that is not for us to do.  We need to grow along side of them and let God judge when it is time to harvest.  For He will remove and destroy them.

35 another prophet is fullfilled.  Psalm 78:2

58  I think is a good check on all of us, our homes, our church and our families...
And He did not do many miracles there because of their lack of faith.

Friday 12/4/09 Matthew Chapter 12

This is a link to "Bible Gateway" it is a great tool for me and wanted to share it with all of you.  You can look up bible verse in all different bibles, The Message, NIV etc.  Hope you enjoy it.http://www.biblegateway.com/

Chapter 12:

Boy right off the bat it makes me think...
5 I would hate to be asked that question...

17 I always love when a prophet is fulfilled it is amazing to me.  I go back and read it in the old testament just to make sure.  Isaiah 42:1-4

28 is talking about driving out demons and how Jesus does it.  This gives me food for thought with my prayer life and how I will pray for things.  Not that I can heal but how I will pray for God to heal!!

36  is harsh although I agree!!  We truly have to watch our words and be so careful what we think and say.
40 Jesus is explaining about Jonah being in the belly of a huge fish for 3 days and 3 nights then He says the Son of Man will be 3 days and 3 nights in the heart of the earth.  He is propheting about Himself and I think they missed it.

50 brings new meaning to "Church Family" to me!! (Which I might add I am so thankful for North Hills and love all like family!!

Thursday 12/3/09 Matthew Chapter 11

After reading this chapter I sit an ponder the thoughts???

The chapter starts out with Jesus moving on after instructing His disciples. John the baptist is in jail, and he sends his disciples to ask Jesus ..... Are you the one who was to come or should we expect someone else. To me that in it self is a hard question to ask someone.... Then Jesus tells them to go back and tell John what they have seen or heard that Jesus did. Then makes an interesting statement. "Blessed is the man who does not fall away on account of me" (I looked it up in the message and found this translation..."Is this what you were expecting? Then count yourselves most blessed!" makes more sense to me this way..

10 Jesus explains that another prophet was fullfilled. Mal 3:1

20 Woe on Unrepentant Cities:

I can't imagine the shame if you were from those cities...

25 I copied the last of the chapter from the message it really made more sense to me:

25-26Abruptly Jesus broke into prayer: "Thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth. You've concealed your ways from sophisticates and know-it-alls, but spelled them out clearly to ordinary people. Yes, Father, that's the way you like to work."

27Jesus resumed talking to the people, but now tenderly. "The Father has given me all these things to do and say. This is a unique Father-Son operation, coming out of Father and Son intimacies and knowledge. No one knows the Son the way the Father does, nor the Father the way the Son does. But I'm not keeping it to myself; I'm ready to go over it line by line with anyone willing to listen.

28-30"Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to me. Get away with me and you'll recover your life. I'll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with me—watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won't lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me and you'll learn to live freely and lightly."

Wednesday 12/2/09 Matthew Chapter 10

Well we are certainly getting into some heavy stuff in Matthew.  I want to say thanks again for to those that are following this and keeping me accountable!!

Matthew Chapter 10

2-4 right off the back I am so excited I have been trying to figure out the 12's name and how they are related and there it was.  With that being said I love how some are referred to and some have nothing said about them just a name!!  Make me think of how we would be referred to ??

5-10 talk about FAITH!!  Okay go out and heal the sick, raise the dead, drive out demons but don't go into any towns...   And don't even pack a bag!!!  Are you kidding me???

11-16  ask strangers to stay with them if they are nice let your peace rest on it??? what does that mean let your peace rest on it??  If not shake the dust off your feet....

Like it was not hard before it gets worse!!

17-39 is some tough love and to me is not quite as harsh as it really is.  When you love Jesus it is not easy you will loose relationships, loved ones and maybe your own life. If you do it for Jesus and in His name it will be worth it and all for the cause.  If you do it for your own good will it will bite you!  Remember others are watching you and your actions not just listening to your words.  A coach once told me your opponent watches you on and off the field.  Not to mention the other coach and the ref.  It is not only words but actions...

Tuesday 12/1/09 Matthew Chapter 9

Can't believe it is the first day of the last month of the year!!  December already!!

Chapter 9:

1-8 is this the same paralytic man that was spoke of that was lowered thru the roof?  I love the statement at the end of verse 6 "Get up take your mat and go home".

9  is this the same Matthew that we are reading from??  (I have so many questions?? thanks to all that are helping me understand these things you are AWESOME!!) I also love what Jesus response is to them casting stone for eating with sinners/tax collectors in verse 12 "It is not the healthy who need the Dr. but the sick.  But go and learn what this means: I desire mercy, not sacrifice. (refer to Hosea 6:6)  For I have not come to call the righteous but the sinners."

22-26 oh the faith of this women to just touch is robe she knew she would be healed......  so many times I have reached for the robe!  Then He took the girl by the hand...  PRECIOUS!!

29-31 Jesus restores the sight of 2 men but tells them not to tell anyone... When I first read this I have to admit I was casting stones on these 2 jokers.  After all Jesus just healed them and told them not to tell anyone and they go tell everyone (although it would be hard to be blind and not being able to get along then being able to see you would want to tell the world.)  But Jesus tells us not to gossip and we do... so I guess I should not pass judgement on these 2 guys.  It is amazing to me how we do the exact opposite sometimes of what Jesus tells us to do.

37  I feel like this question is not just for the disciple but for all of us!!  "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few.  Ask the Lord of the harvest therefore, to send OUT workers into his harvest fields."  Those that need to hear of the Lord my not be in your own field you may have to go OUT and look in order to tell them of HIS GREAT LOVE!!
