Monday 11/30/09 Matthew Chapter 8

Sorry about yesterday I labeled the wrong chapter it should have read 7.  Today for sure is the 8th Chapter in Matthew.

Well today back to the routine of life.  It is nice to have time off and nice to get back to the routine of our life.

Chapter 8

1 can you imagine how tired Jesus must have been after preaching and then hiking down a mountain? Then to be asked "Lord if you are willing you can make me clean"  3 Jesus reached out His had and said "I am willing"  "Be clean".  To me this tells me that Jesus is always willing but we have to get to a place in order to ask Him.

5 What/Who is a centurion??  I am quite confused about all that is said in area???  Can someone help me to understand more.    Especially in verses 10-12  HELP!!

15 I love when Peter's mom is healed that she got up and began to wait on Him.

17 then the prophet Isaiah was fulfilled again. Isaiah 53:4

22.....Jesus stated "Follow me, and let the dead bury their own dead"  Can't imagine how this disciple must have felt.  First they had to walk away from the "family business" then couldn't go to bury their father.  What a scrafice....

26  I think it is so amazing how we get "scared" in our lives and feel like we have to "wake" Jesus.

29  What appointed time are the 2 demon possessed me referring too?

34 Why would the whole town plead with Jesus to leave their region??  (Afraid that He would kill more pigs??)

This chapter has alot of questions for me!!  HELP!!

Sonday 11/29/09 Matthew Chapter 9

Well Thanksgiving Weekend has come and gone.  The business for Christmas has begun.  I am finding distractions to try and not do my bible study time and prayer time.  I am so glad that I have this blog and all of you keeping me on my toes!!  Thanks for joining in on this study!!

On with Matthew Chapter 7:

1-6  There is a lot to be said with judging.. I truly believe it is the root of all evil.  You focus on others and want what they want or think you are better, you might even gossip about them.  If you are truely focused on God you can not judge others.  And it takes so much time.

7. I love the thought "Ask and it will be given to you".  I have learned to be careful what you ask for because you may learn how to achieve it like PATIENCE!!  In order to be patient you have to be given opportunities in order to practice it.  I always want to have it not practice it!!

13,14 Again even thou small in size huge in meaning.  Sometimes the gate is so small we miss it!!  Or we are so focused on looking for the gate we don't know we are already in and on the road and miss the journey!!

17 one question I think we need to ask ourselves constantly ..... What kind of fruit am I bearing??

21 reminds me that we have a lot of work to do.  It is not all about getting unbelievers to commit but helping them learn and grow in their faith.  With this being said we should have no problem with christians signing up to be teacher to help others grow in their faith.  (This is my soap box can you tell!)  There is a place for all of us to serve and reach out to new christians.  Find a place and get started!!  Remember just because someone believes or comes to church doesn't mean they are going to make it to heaven!!

Saturday 11/28/09 Matthew Chapter 6

More "Supreme Blessedness"   I so love the thought!!

Verse:
1  right off in verse one gets me thinking of my righteousness and am I doing them in front of anyone??  I tend to feel very proud of myself and tell a few people when I have helped someone.  It truly makes me feel so good to help others that I can't control myself because when you retell it it makes you feel good all over again.  So I guess from now on mum is the word.......

14 this is really a great way to live your life.  It is amazing to me how much better you feel when you don't carry a grudge.  It is easier with strangers thou than the ones you love.  I also think that there is a difference between forgiving and boundries (WHAT IS EVERYONE THOUGHT ON THAT?)

16 I recently did a fast of facebook and actually told everyone about it.  Like righteouseness it made me feel good to tell others why I wasn't on.  I am so self centered!!  I really need to get over ME!!

22 as I read this it reminded me of the childrens song "Becareful Little Eye What You See".  It is so amazing to me how many of those songs really stick with you and you need to know.

25-34 Worry Worry Worry......  I know what it says, I understand it, I still do it!!  Notice all the I's!!  This is one of the hardest things I have every had to deal with....  Okay true confessions this is the thing I have the biggest problem with.... I have a really hard time not worry therefore NOT TRUSTING GOD OR HAVEING LACK OF FAITH!!  Especially with money issues $$!!  This is one way you could pray for me if you feel so inclined to do so!!

(Black) Friday 11/27/09 Matthew 5

Beatitudes..... (I didn't know what that meant so I looked it up)      "SUPREME BLESSEDNESS" !!!!!

What a way to start your day!!  Can I just be alittle personal?  Yesterday was really a great day being at our church.  For most people they have to travel far and wide to visit their families, I love the fact that I just have to drive to our church.  We spend time with new and old friends.  Play games with the kids.  Share a smile with those that don't see many.  And for me I get to see all of my "Church Family" share a meal and there is usually always plenty of room at the table.  I love you all!!

Okay on with Matthew:
verse 9 "peacemakers will be called the sons of God"  count me in!!  I knew I hated to argue but I thought it was because I was a codependant!!

17 Jesus is not here to abolish the Law of the Prophets but to fulfill them.  I know now why I like looking up those!

27 wow alittle harsh although I get it.  QUIT SINNING!!

31 this is alittle hard for me since I have been divorced (100 years ago).  yikes I have asked for forgiveness and am trying my best now.  Hope I am okay on that one...

37  ever heard of peer pressure?  I love it let you yes be yes and your no be no.  This is really easier said than done especially if you are telling yourself no no no.  Sometimes I have arguements (that is something I probably shouldn't be blogging to the world)

48 and if that wasn't enough pressure BE PERFECT, therefore as your heavnly Father is perfect.

Thursday 11/25/09 (Happy Thanksgiving) Matthew Chapter 4

Just want to say how thankful I am for so many blessing from God in my life!!  He truly has saved me from so many and I am so grateful!!  He has blessed me so much with such a wonderful chruch, family and friends!!  I praise Him for all He is doing and has done in my life.

Okay Chapter 4:
After getting over a fast for 21 days, I can't imagine going 40 days and 40 nights with no food?? Then to say he was hungry??  Duh!!  It didn't mention that He had gotten any food and the "tempter" took Him to different places and tried to trick Him.  In verse 4 we are reminded that "Man does not live on bread alone, but on every word from the mouth of God."  (this comes for Deut. 8:3 when God feed them manna)  It is amazing to me how he even tryed to trick Him with scripture (Psalm 91:11,12).  I think that this is a good reminder for all of us that satan is alive and well and believes there is a God and tries to use that to get to us.  We really need to study and understand what God wants for our life so we are not even tempted by his tricks.  I really loved in verse 7 what Jesus said and I need to remember that "It is written: Do not put the Lord you God to the test." (Which comes from Deut. 6:16).  Then in verse 10 we are reminded of Deut. 6:13.

Then more was fulfilled from the prophet Isaih 9:1,2.

Can we talk about faith and trust for a little while??  From verses 18-22 is not very long but VERY POWERFUL!!  2 sets of brothers all Jesus does is ask once and they leave EVERYTHING and follow him!!  1 set of brothers even left their father!  They walked away from security, lively hood, family, investment, years of trainning, property etc.   Jesus asked them one question and that was it!!

Wednesday 11/25/09 Matthew Chapter 3

Right off the bat in verse 3 more prophet was being fullfilled.  Isaiah 40:3.

I find it very interesting that a man is noting Johns clothes, what he eats and even down to what kind of belt.  It was something out of the ordinary I think in order to list it.

Verse 7 starts getting pretty powerful.  It is almost like he is saying to them too little too late in my opinion  I love in verse 11 how he is refering to Jesus and will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and Fire??  (I say come on baby light my fire!!)  I must admit I didn't know what a winnowing fork was so I looked it up in the dictionary and found it to be a tool used to separate chaff from grain, or to sort something into categories.  So if Jesus used His winnowing fork now where would I fall??

Verse 13 I can't imagine how John must have felt when Jesus asked him to baptize Him?? How humbling......  I love the words used to discribe how it all went down.  What I wouldn't hear for God to say This is my daughter, whom I love; with her I am well please.

Tuesday Noveber 24, 2009 Matthew Chapter 2

Okay I don't know if this hit me differently because of just reading John and having it still in my head?  verse 2 The Magi (Wise Men) asked "Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews?...."  I thought this was very interesting??  For this is what was put on the cross king of the Jews.

I love to look up in the Old Testament where prohets have written things and then it comes true, there was several of these in this chapter, verse 5 sends us to Micah 5:2

verse 9 I have done alot of traveling at night and I have never noticed or been able to follow a star?? That in it self is enough to make you believe.

Now is where I need some huge help!!  Attention Attention calling all bible scholars!!!  verse 11 On coming to the HOUSE (not stable, no animals!!)  Is my manger scene incorrect?? Someone please help me with this one!!

In verse 15 it take us back to Hosea 11:1 for more prophet being fulfilled and in verse 18 takes us to Jeremiah 31:15.

I don't know about you but I would so love to hear the voice of God let alone have one of His angels appear to me in a dream verse 19.

Wow what a day!!  This study is going to prove to be very interesting and fulfilling for me!!

Monday November 23, 2009 Matthew Chapter 1

It seems like a good place to start... Matthew the first book of the New Testament.  So I guess that genealogy is a good place for Matthew to start.  I love in genealogy when they make a reference to who someone is to help me remember.  In this tibit of genealogy I find it very interesting how not very many mothers are listed.  Tamar, Rahab, Ruth, Bathsheba although her name was not listed she is refered to as Uriah's wife.  Then how Mary was listed in verse 16 and Jacob the father of Joseph, the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called the Christ.  I think it is very interesting how just some of the mom's are listed.  Makes me wonder why them?  Would I be listed in someone genoalogy?

I always find it so refreashing how "righteous" Josesph must have been to continue is engagement with Mary and not have "union" with her until after Jesus was born.  I know it takes a special man to take in a child that is not his own and raise it.  Vince (my husband) is no Joseph but he took in Keith (my oldest) so first hand I know how are this is.

So excited to start this journey!!
